We always stay at the Casa Del Mar Inn, a welcoming hotel across the street from Vilano Beach and the St. Augustine inlet.
Before we head off to the beaches, let's check in to the hotel and get rid of all the luggage.
Downtown St. Augustine isn't on the beach, so we chose a hotel just across the bay, at the little town of Vilano Beach, on the north side of the St. Augustine inlet.
The Casa Del Mar Inn is within easy walking distance of the beach, bay and inlet, and a couple of good restaurants.
We were delighted to find this hotel, as it's not always easy to locate a friendly, welcoming, professionally run hotel right where you need it to be. The management and staff go the extra mile to make our stays enjoyable, and we do appreciate it. Thanks guys!
Behind the hotel you'll see a pleasant lounging area with a large pool, with a heated whirlpool, and shaded garden areas for those days when you've already had too much sun. Just inside you'll find a nice gym with the usual collection of workout machines facing a row of TVs.
A full menu breakfast buffet is included in the price of room. The buffet includes just about anything anybody might want for breakfast, and a very friendly English gentleman is always nearby, happy to assist you.
We always get a room on the third floor with a balcony overlooking the pool. Some of the rooms have ocean views. The rooms are great, and include a refrigerator, microwave and Internet connection. There are also a couple of net connected computers available in the lobby.
As best we can tell, if you want to be on the beach in St. Augustine, the Casa Del Mar Inn is your best bet. And no, we don't work or sell for them, we just want to give you our best advice, and thank the hotel for many pleasant visits.
